What does a buyer's agent do?

A buyer's agent (also called a buyer's advocate) works exclusively for the property buyer. They search for properties including off-market listings, evaluate what a home is really worth, negotiate the price and can bid for you at auction. Unlike a real estate agent, who is paid by the seller to get the highest price, a buyer's agent represents your side of the deal.

How much does a buyer's agent cost in Australia?

Most Australian buyer's agents charge either a fixed fee or a percentage of the purchase price, commonly between 1% and 3%, and many offer cheaper single services such as auction bidding only. You agree fees directly with the agent you choose. PropertyGo's matching service itself is completely free for buyers.

Is GoMatch really free for buyers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Requesting a match, seeing your shortlist and talking to the matched agents costs you nothing, and there is no obligation to engage anyone. You only ever pay a buyer's agent their own fees if you decide to hire them.

Question 4

Does PropertyGo check the buyer's agents?

Accepted Answer

No. We don't check licences or past results. Each profile shows the agency's Google reviews, service areas and specialties so you can judge them yourself, and you can check a licence with your state regulator before you sign anything. Agencies cannot pay to appear in your shortlist: matches are based on how well they fit your brief.

Who sees my details when I submit the form?

Nobody, until you confirm your email address. Your brief is only sent to your matched agents after you click the confirmation link we email you, so a brief nobody confirmed never reaches anyone. The matched agencies that have joined PropertyGo see your brief and can open your contact details to reply. One that has not joined yet gets your brief without them, and can see them only once it joins. Nobody else gets them.

How many agents will contact me, and when?

You are matched with up to three buyer's agents whose service area and specialty fit your brief. After you confirm your email, the agencies that have joined PropertyGo contact you directly, in their own time: no response time is promised. One that has not joined yet gets your brief without your contact details, so call it from its profile if you want to hear from it. Talking to all three is the fastest way to work out who suits you.

Do I have to choose one of the matched agents?

No. The shortlist is an introduction, not a commitment. You can meet all three, choose one, or walk away, and you can also browse every listed buyer's agent in our directory and contact any of them directly.

Which areas of Australia do you cover?

Accepted Answer

PropertyGo lists buyer's agents across every Australian state and territory, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide as well as regional areas. Your shortlist is drawn from agents who service the state you are buying in.

What's the difference between a buyer's agent and a real estate agent?

Accepted Answer

A real estate agent is engaged by the seller and works to achieve the highest possible sale price. A buyer's agent is engaged by you, the buyer, and works to find the right property and buy it on the best possible terms. They sit on opposite sides of the same transaction.
